Nice enough. Although typical with parks here, older kids have defaced the park, one climbing frame was closed as it had been set on fire and there was glass all around the roundabout. Apart from those negatives, is a nice wee place
Great park.
Lots for the kids to do. Also came here for the circus too which I highly recommend! Brilliant
Recently refurbished and repaved with child friendly rubber matting and done away with the sand which is good for the shoes and socks ????
Great muddy Cross Country Course!
Park has been left to deteriorate such a shame
Not much to for my 5 year old niece to play with although she did love the sand. Pity all the beaters for music features are missing. Rubber surface under equipment very slippy when wet, which led to her having a fall. Probably a lot better on a dry day. ☺️
Nice clean park area with plenty of modern wooden activities for kids to have fun on. Picnic benches and seats for kids. Nice but small walk around the park good for playing hide and seek or short stroll with your dog.
Not the excellent space this was many years ago but still a worthwhile place to visit if you want to take children somewhere to play. Plenty of space to play and run around.

Quick Facts About Woodhead Park

Woodhead Park has a number of strengths that make it a nice place for families to visit. Firstly, there are many activities available for children to do, such as climbing frames and a muddy cross country course. This provides entertainment and opportunities for physical exercise, allowing children to have fun and expend energy. Additionally, the park hosts events such as the circus, which can be highly enjoyable for both children and adults.
The recent refurbishment of the park is another strength. The addition of child-friendly rubber matting, as opposed to sand, is a positive improvement. Sand can often be messy and get into shoes and socks, so the use of rubber matting eliminates this issue. The refurbishment also shows that there is a commitment to maintaining and improving the park for visitors.
The cleanliness of the park is also mentioned as a strength. This is important in creating a pleasant and inviting environment for families to enjoy. The presence of picnic benches and seats for kids further enhances the park's amenities, allowing visitors to relax and enjoy their time there. The park is described as a nice, clean area, which is a positive attribute for families looking for a safe and welcoming space to spend time with their children.
Another strength of Woodhead Park is the availability of modern wooden activities for children. These activities are not only entertaining, but they also provide an opportunity for children to explore and engage in imaginative play. The park seems to have invested in providing educational and interactive activities that can enhance a child's development.
In terms of weaknesses, one recurring issue mentioned is vandalism and neglect. Older kids have defaced the park, causing damage to the climbing frame and leaving glass around the roundabout. This indicates a lack of respect for the park and can be seen as a safety concern for children. Additionally, one reviewer laments that the park has been left to deteriorate, which is a shame considering the potential the park once had.
Another weakness mentioned is the lack of play options for younger children. A reviewer states that there is not much for their 5-year-old niece to play with, apart from the sand which she enjoyed. The absence of beaters for music features and the slippery rubber surface under equipment when wet are also noted. These factors can potentially lead to accidents and limit the enjoyment for young children and their caregivers.
Lastly, some reviewers mention that the park used to be an excellent space but has since declined. While there is still plenty of space for children to play and run around, it is clear that there is room for improvement to restore the park to its former glory.
In summary, Woodhead Park has several strengths that make it an enjoyable place for families to visit. These include a variety of activities for children, recent refurbishment, cleanliness, and modern wooden play equipment. However, there are also weaknesses, such as vandalism, lack of play options for younger children, and deterioration of the park. By addressing these weaknesses, Woodhead Park could become an even more desirable destination for families.
